CSI Coffee Shop Illusion – Troubleshooting Guide
Here are a few common issues and how to fix them quickly.
1 – Air Bubbles in the Metal
If you notice small bubbles or pitting in your casting, it means the metal was heated too high. Remember — it only melts at around 60°C.
Gentle, controlled heat is all that’s needed. Overheating causes the metal to boil and trap air.
Take it slow, and you’ll get a smooth, flawless finish every time.
2 – Metal Setting Too Fast / Gaps in the Ring
If the metal sets before it’s fully poured, or you end up with gaps in the ring, your mould is too cold.
Pre-heat your mould for a few seconds before pouring.
A warm mould keeps the metal liquid just long enough to flow freely and fill every detail of the cavity.
3 – My Ring Looks Dull
After repeated use, the alloy can lose its lustre. Once your ring has cooled and set, rub it gently on a piece of paper — the natural abrasion will buff it back to a mirror-like shine. (Old receipt paper or standard printer paper works perfectly.)
4 – My Metal Has Fused to Another Object
If the metal has accidentally bonded to another item — a cup, spoon, or anything else — don’t panic. Simply apply heat again and the metal will melt away cleanly.
It won’t damage the other object, and you can reuse the alloy once it’s cooled.

Through the Veil
A dark presentation inspired by occult practices. The ring is bound with colour sigils, lowered into a smoking cauldron, and vanishes — only to return wet from the other side of the veil.
The Houdini Teleportation
A classic storytelling routine centred on a ring once owned by Houdini. The ring is bound with cable ties — a modern stand-in for his legendary chains — and immersed in hot coffee, his favourite drink, before impossibly reappearing in the sealed pouch.
To Hell and Back Again
A festive and infernal version for December performances. The ring becomes a token marked by the Krampus, who drags it to Hell and back before returning it.
